All lessons take place directly through your browser, no third-party apps or installations required. Simply ensure your computer has a camera, microphone, and speakers, and you're ready to start.
All educators must be at least 18 years old to teach on GoBrainly.
All payments are processed through secure payment gateways. We never store or share your credit card information, ensuring your payment details remain protected.
Your earning potential is determined by the hours you teach, your hourly rates, and student retention. Since these factors vary, earnings differ from educator to educator, comparisons with others won't reflect your unique situation.
While we don't disclose average earnings, here's an example to illustrate potential income:
Rate: $40/hour (e.g. Primary 4 tutoring)
Hours: 11 hours per week (1 hour on weekdays, 3 hours on weekends)
Total weekly gross earnings: $440 before taxes and platform fees
This can all be done from home without the need for active advertising.
You can set your lesson rates anywhere between $5 and $500, adjustable in $5 increments. This pricing structure minimises psychological pricing games and allows you to focus on showcasing your teaching value rather than competing through tactical pricing strategies.
If you prefer a simpler approach, use our default rates, which are determined by education level rather than subject matter. You can always fine-tune these defaults later to better match your preferences and expertise.
Once you've added your bank account information, you can request withdrawals from your earnings wallet at any time.
Please note the following:
- Withdrawal fee: $2 per withdrawal (no additional fees)
- Minimum withdrawal: $50
- Processing time: Payouts are processed immediately upon request and typically arrive within 3-5 business days. If your payout takes longer than expected, please contact us at Support@GoBrainly.com for assistance.
Once a lesson is completed, GoBrainly retains the funds for 12 hours before releasing them to the educator. This waiting period allows us to address any disputes or complaints that may arise and ensures funds can be reversed or withheld promptly if necessary. Payment is only finalised and disbursed to the educator after this 12-hour window from the lesson's end time.
In cases where disputes occur, GoBrainly will evaluate each situation individually, which may extend the payment distribution timeline beyond the standard 12 hours.
Educators have complete control over setting their rates, which are charged per lesson. Please note that your initial rate is set before taxes, so students will see a higher amount after GST is applied.
Booking your lessons has never been easier. Begin by exploring educator profiles to view their ratings and self-introduction videos.
Once you've found the right educator, choose your preferred time slot, enter your payment information, and book your lesson in one-hour increments.
Each lesson lasts one hour and automatically ends at the 60-minute mark.To help you wrap up smoothly, reminders will be announced at the 45th, 50th, and 55th minute. We recommend concluding your lesson by the 55th minute, allowing time for both parties to share feedback, discuss the next session, and handle any administrative tasks.
GoBrainly is a GST-registered company in Singapore, and GST applies to all services provided as a technology platform.
As an educator, you are responsible for ensuring you pay any taxes owed on your GoBrainly earnings and GoBrainly does not withhold taxes from your earnings or provide tax advice. You must report and pay all applicable taxes independently.
Please note that we are not tax professionals and cannot offer professional tax guidance. We strongly recommend consulting a local tax professional for detailed information specific to your situation.
We accept most major credit cards, debit cards, and reloadable prepaid cards, including Visa and Mastercard.
When you book a lesson, a pre-authorisation hold is placed on your card. This temporary hold confirms that your payment method is valid and has sufficient funds to cover the lesson cost. The held amount is not an actual charge and it will only be deducted after your lesson is completed.

These measures ensure the highest level of safety for our community.
No bullying. No harassment. Only learning.
Your rates are influenced by several key factors:
1. Qualifications and experience
Educators with advanced degrees, teaching certifications, or prior experience as school teachers typically command higher rates. A proven track record of improving student performance also justifies premium pricing.
2. Student's academic level
Rates generally increase with the student's grade level, as subjects become more complex and require greater expertise.
3. Subject type
Highly specialised, in-demand, or complex subjects, such as advanced mathematics or sciences often warrant higher rates due to their difficulty and specialised knowledge requirements.
4. Market demand
Supply and demand principles apply. When parents have specific requirements (such as requesting a specific gendered educator for a particular subject), the limited pool of matching educators can result in higher rates.
Applying to become an educator on GoBrainly is easy! Simply follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Register and build your profile
- Register using SingPass or by manually entering your details
- Complete your teaching profile with qualifications, availability, pricing, and other relevant information
- Link your bank account to receive payments
- Upload a short introductory video (Note: Show your personality because students want to connect with the real you, not the polished persona.)
Step 2: Account review and approval
- GoBrainly will review your account and credentials
Step 3: Wait for student bookings
- Once your account is approved and activated, students can discover and book you. (Note: Your detailed profile and introduction video are crucial. Students are more likely to choose educators they connect with.)
- Optional: Share your profile on social media to increase visibility and build your teaching presence. Remember, you're here to teach and share knowledge, not become a full-time content creator
Step 4: Prepare for the lesson
- Approve the lesson booking when a student requests you
- Plan your lesson flow and review the content you'll be teaching
- Upload any relevant teaching materials
If you're new: Rehearse your approach, key talking points, and anticipated conversations
Step 5: Conduct the lesson
- For first lessons: Begin by asking the student (and parent, if present) about: [1] their learning objectives, [2] the student's current level, [3] areas where they excel or struggle, [4] upcoming deadlines or important dates, and [5] any other relevant information. (Note: Understanding your student's needs helps you support them effectively and increases the likelihood they'll return)
- For subsequent lessons: Briefly outline what you'll cover and ask if the student has any questions or specific requests before beginning
- These steps ensure aligned expectations and provide helpful content for your post-lesson feedback
Step 6: Post-lesson follow-up
- Ask when the student would like to schedule their next lesson (Note: This helps you plan your schedule and balance personal time)
- Request feedback from the student (Note: It's a valuable tool for improvement and attracting more students. Remember, feedback is for self-reflection, not self-criticism, and not all feedback needs to be internalised)
- Spend at least 5 minutes completing the post-lesson review. The more detailed your notes and feedback are, the less you'll need to recall for future sessions
Step 7: Suggest a lesson plan (optional)
- If you can estimate how many lessons are needed to cover a specific topic or segment, share this with the student. It helps them understand what to expect and gives them insight into their own learning pace
- Example: "Educator Mr./Ms. [Educator's name] suggests [X] lessons to cover [Topic]. By the end of these [X] lessons, the student should be well-versed in [Topic]. We'll reassess any additional needs at that time."
- This approach helps you gauge your teaching effectiveness and efficiency while giving students a clear roadmap for their progress

Production tips:
- Smile and be personable, let your personality shine through
- Speak slowly and clearly; take your time

- Ensure clear audio so viewers can hear you well
- Use proper lighting so your face is clearly visible
- Frame the shot to show your face and shoulders
Note:
- Sharing of personal contact information is prohibited
Active marketing is not required
You don't need to actively market yourself to succeed on GoBrainly. Simply create a complete profile, upload a brief introduction video, and set competitive rates. Keep your video concise and authentic, this isn't an essay or reality TV show, just be yourself.
Promote on social media (Optional)
If you'd like to expand your reach through social media, you're welcome to do so. Be sure to include your custom profile link so students can easily find you. This broader visibility allows you to leverage GoBrainly's platform to track the effectiveness of your self-driven marketing efforts.
Content is for teaching, not to become an influencer or social media personality
You only need relevant teaching materials that you'll use during lessons. Unlike social media, there's no pressure for constant content creation or ongoing marketing efforts.
Use what already exists
There's no need to reinvent the wheel, leverage existing materials and resources. What makes you unique is how you teach and connect with your students, not creating original content from scratch.
Educational content is largely stable
Curricula and educational content remain relatively unchanged, with updates typically occurring after a year or more. This means your materials can be static and reused across multiple students without constant revision.
Focus on teaching, not content creation
Your value lies in your ability to teach and support the students who choose you. This isn't social media where daily content production is expected. Once your lesson ends, your work is done and there's no need for endless content creation beyond your teaching sessions.

What you'll need:
- Web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, or others)
- Stable internet connection
- Laptop or tablet device
- Webcam (highly recommended)
- Microphone and speakers/headphones
No external software or downloads are required, everything runs directly in your browser.
Why we recommend using a webcam:
While not mandatory, using a webcam significantly enhances the learning experience. It allows educators to read students' body language and adjust their teaching approach in real-time based on engagement and comprehension cues.
Additionally, virtual lessons with video help students develop essential digital communication skills from an early age, preparing them for an increasingly connected future where virtual interaction is commonplace in education and the workplace.
User responsibilities:
Users are responsible for meeting minimum technical requirements, including maintaining a stable internet connection and using a compatible browser at adequate speeds.
Browser and connection requirements for optimal performance, we recommend:
- Modern web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) - latest versions
- Recommended minimum speed internet speed: [2 Mbps download/upload]
Technical support:
Our platform provides reasonable technical support to help resolve issues you may encounter during lessons.
Service availability:
While we strive for continuous availability, we cannot guarantee 100% uptime (standard across the industry). In the rare event of platform outages that prevent lesson completion, GoBrainly will issue a full refund for affected sessions.
Accounts may be suspended or terminated for misconduct, harmful behavior, or violations of our Terms of Service.
Grounds for suspension or termination include, but are not limited to:
- Providing false information with intent to mislead, deceive, or harm others
- False declaration regarding past or current criminal cases related to child abuse or similar offenses
- Attempting to contact users outside the platform or exchanging personal contact information, which compromises our safety protocols
- Harmful conduct, including vulgar language, threatening body language, derogatory remarks, or similar behavior
What happens after a violation is identified:
- Suspension process: If a violation is detected, you'll have two weeks to address the issue and restore your account to good standing.
- Outstanding credits: If your account is terminated, any remaining credits will be manually transferred within two months, subject to a standard $2 withdrawal fee.
- Appeals: To appeal a suspension or termination decision, contact us directly at Support@GoBrainly.com.
Account restriction periods:
Suspended accounts: 6 months before re-activation
Terminated accounts: 1 year before reconsideration
After each lesson, you'll receive a prompt to provide feedback and a rating. We encourage all users to complete this step, as it helps both educators and students identify areas for improvement and recognise what's working well.
While feedback is voluntary, completing it enables better lesson tracking and progress documentation over time.
What you can and cannot change after submitting:
- Ratings: Cannot be edited, changed, or deleted by you
- Feedback: Cannot be edited, changed, or deleted by you
- Testimonials: Cannot be edited by you, but you can delete them
Review everything carefully before submitting, most content is permanent once posted.
Feedback and ratings for students:
Note: Educators provide feedback and ratings on student performance, attention, attitude, and engagement during lessons, and once
- Visibility for students: All feedback and ratings are visible to the student for self-improvement purposes
- Visibility for educators: The educator who wrote the feedback can always view what they've shared
- Visibility for future educators: Only the three most recent feedback entries are visible to help with lesson planning
Feedback, testimonials, and ratings for educators:
Note: Students and parents provide feedback and ratings on educator performance, teaching approach, communication, and overall lesson quality.
- Public ratings and testimonials: All ratings and testimonials (capped at 100 words) are publicly visible with usernames partially hidden for privacy
- Private feedback: Detailed improvement suggestions are visible only to the student and educator for self-improvement and lesson enhancement. Educators are able to see who wrote each piece of feedback
Important considerations:
- Feedback is inherently subjective. A teaching method that resonates with one student may not work as well for another, so use feedback as a helpful guide rather than an absolute rule when choosing an educator or assessing teaching approaches.
- Context matters. Observations made during lessons, whether from educators or students, may appear valid at first glance but might not reflect the complete picture. For example, a student may have special learning needs that aren't immediately apparent, so feedback should never be taken entirely at face value.
- Thoughtful evaluation: Both educators and students should thoughtfully evaluate feedback they receive. Reflect on whether the input has genuine merit and can be practically implemented, not all feedback will be useful or applicable to your specific situation.
All completed lessons are non-refundable, as stated in our Terms of Service.
Exceptions for Terms of Service violations:
If a violation of GoBrainly's Terms of Service occurs, refunds may be issued as in-platform credits. These credits can only be used within the platform and cannot be converted to cash.
Case-by-case review:
We evaluate each refund request individually. In certain circumstances, refunds may be granted at our discretion to ensure fairness and address any concerns.
